The game in Giessen was also worth to mention about. 7th ranked EWE Baskets (15-13) played at the court of eighth ranked Giessen 46ers (15-13). Giessen 46ers did not have too big problems and got a relatively easy victory 78-61. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of EWE Baskets. Giessen 46ers made 23-of-24 charity shots (95.8 percent) during the game. They also forced 19 EWE Baskets turnovers and had a 23-12 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for Giessen 46ers especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.9 percentage. It was a good game for American forward Dwayne Evans (201-92, college: St.Louis) who led his team to a victory with 12 points and 9 rebounds (went 12 for 12 at the free throw line !!!). The other American import forward Justin Sears (203-94, college: Yale) contributed with 12 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Five Giessen 46ers players scored in double figures. American swingman Rickey Paulding (196-82, college: Missouri) replied with 17 points and Belgian Maxime De-Zeeuw (206-87) added 10 points in the effort for EWE Baskets. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Giessen 46ers have an impressive five-game winning streak. They moved-up to seventh place, which they share with defeated EWE Baskets. Giessen 46ers will play against league's leader ratiopharm Ulm on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. EWE Baskets will play against BBC Bayreuth (#4) and hope to get back on the winning track.
