Regular Season Round 31: Lietkabelis - Juventus 94-90
Date: April 12, 2017
No shocking result in a game when third ranked Lietkabelis (22-9) beat 6th ranked Juventus (16-15) in Panevezys 94-90. The hosts were ahead by 2 points but lost the second period ending it with a 6-point deficit before their 31-21 run, which allowed them to win the game. Strangely Juventus outrebounded Lietkabelis 38-25 including a 16-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. Australian swingman Ben Madgen (193-85, college: Augusta) fired 26 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Guard Gintaras Leonavicius (194-83, agency: Players Group) chipped in 22 points and 4 assists (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Lietkabelis' coach Kazys Maksvytis allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. American point guard Jamar Diggs (188-88, college: Wofford, agency: Octagon Europe) produced 21 points, 9 rebounds, 7 assists and 5 steals and power forward Vaidas Cepukaitis (207-89, agency: Interperformances) added 15 points and 15 rebounds respectively for lost side. Four Lietkabelis and five Juventus players scored in double figures. Lietkabelis maintains third place with 22-9 record having six points less than leader Zalgiris. Juventus at the other side dropped to the fifth position with 15 games lost. Lietkabelis' next round opponent will be Dzukija (#8) in Alytus which should be theoretically an easy game. Juventus will play on the road against the league's second-placed Lietuvos rytas in Vilnius and hope to win that game.
