Regular Season Round 31: Zalgiris - Vytautas 84-59

LKL top team - Zalgiris (28-3) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed fifth ranked Vytautas (16-15) in Kaunas 84-59. The game was mostly controlled by Zalgiris. Vytautas was better in third quarter 20-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Zalgiris dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Vytautas' 26. Zalgiris forced 22 Vytautas turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 26 assists. It was a great evening for German power forward Isaiah Hartenstein (211-98) who led his team to a victory scoring 10 points and 8 rebounds. International point guard Lukas Lekavicius (180-94) helped adding 6 points and 8 assists. Four Zalgiris players scored in double figures. Zalgiris' coach Sarunas Jasikevicius felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side power forward Regimantas Miniotas (206-96) responded with 20 points and 8 rebounds and forward Arturas Valeika (207-85, college: Midland CC) scored 14 points and 5 rebounds. Zalgiris have an impressive series of six victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with 28-3 record. Defending champion Vytautas keeps the fifth position with 15 games lost. They share it with Juventus. Zalgiris will play against Neptunas (#4) in Klaipeda in the next round. Vytautas will play on the road against P.Zvaigzdes in Pasvalys and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
