Regular Season Round 30: Braunschweig - Vechta 87-73

Date: April 12, 2017
The game between closely ranked teams ended with 17th ranked SC Rasta Vechta's (2-26) road loss to sixteenth ranked Braunschweig (5-23) 73-87. They made 22-of-25 charity shots (88.0 percent) during the game. Braunschweig had a 28-14 advantage in offensive rebounds. Canadian forward Dyshawn Pierre (198-93, college: Dayton) notched a double-double by scoring 19 points and 13 rebounds to lead the effort and Austrian point guard Thomas Klepeisz (186-91) supported him with 23 points and 7 assists (went 11 for 11 at the free throw line !!!). Four Braunschweig players scored in double figures. Even 22 points and 5 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) by American Frank Gaines (191-90, college: IPFW) did not help to save the game for SC Rasta Vechta. American-Albanian point guard Rashaun Broadus (183-84, college: BYU, agency: Octagon Europe) added 14 points and 4 steals. SC Rasta Vechta's coach tested eleven players and allowed the starting five to rest. Braunschweig maintains sixteenth position with 5-23 record. SC Rasta Vechta lost fourth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the seventeenth place with 26 games lost. Braunschweig's next round opponent will be higher ranked Telekom Baskets (#6) in Bonn and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. SC Rasta Vechta will play at home against Bayern Muenchen (#3) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
