No shocking result in a game when third ranked Bayern Muenchen (25-3) defeated at home 6th ranked Telekom Baskets (17-11) 84-72. They outrebounded Telekom Baskets 41-22 including a 28-14 advantage in defensive rebounds. Bayern Muenchen players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. Serbian Vladimir Lucic (201-89, agency: BeoBasket) notched 17 points and 9 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) to lead the effort and the former international center Maik Zirbes (208-90, agency: BeoBasket) supported him with 20 points. Even 22 points and 5 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) by American power forward Julian Gamble (208-89, college: Miami, FL) did not help to save the game for Telekom Baskets. His fellow American import forward Ken Horton (199-89, college: Cent.Conn.St.) added 18 points and 5 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Bayern Muenchen have an impressive 15-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 25-3 record having just two points less than leader Ratiopharm. Defending champion Telekom Baskets keep the sixth place with 11 games lost. Bayern Muenchen's next round opponent will be SC Rasta Vechta (#17) on the road which should be an easy win for them.
