Second Stage Round 7: CAB Madeira - Lusitania 97-83

Rather predictable result when eighth ranked CAB Madeira (16-11) won against 10th ranked Lusitania (7-21) in Funchal 97-83. They outrebounded Lusitania 35-22 including 24 on the defensive glass. CAB Madeira players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. It was a great evening for international forward Stefan Djukic (202-89) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 11 rebounds. American forward Frederick Gentry (201-77, college: McNeese St.) helped adding 22 points and 7 rebounds. Djukic is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top summer league for players who want to play basketball overseas. At the losing side naturalized American forward Rick Cardoso (201-85, college: CS Stanislaus, agency: Promotex) responded with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 12 rebounds and naturalized Angolan forward Antonio Monteiro (204-89) scored 20 points. Five CAB Madeira and four Lusitania players scored in double figures. CAB Madeira have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They moved-up to seventh place in Places 7-12. Lusitania at the other side keeps the tenth position with 21 games lost. CAB Madeira will play against Ovarense (#8) at home in the next round. Lusitania will play against Electrico FC in Ponte de Sor and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
