The game between closely ranked teams ended with fifth ranked Balkan's (13-10) home victory over 6th ranked Spartak Pleven (10-13) in Botevgrad 95-71. Balkan dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Spartak Pleven's 30. They outrebounded Spartak Pleven 45-29 including a 32-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. Balkan players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. American forward Travis Daniels (202-92, college: Mississippi St.) had a double-double by scoring 18 points and 18 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Montenegrin center Mihailo Sekulovic (206-91) chipped in 21 points and 12 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) during the contest. Forward Konstantin Koev (196-91) responded with 20 points and 6 rebounds and international center Velislav Galabov (207-94) scored 13 points and 7 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Balkan have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Rilski. Spartak Pleven lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the sixth position with 13 games lost. Balkan will play against higher ranked Beroe (#3) in Stara Zagora in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Spartak Pleven will play at home against Cherno More and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
