Everything went according to plan when fourth ranked Cankaya (28-8) outplayed 15th ranked Edirne (14-23) in Ankara 90-53 on Friday. Cankaya dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Edirne's 32. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Quite impressive performance for the former international forward Seda Tabakci (188-85, agency: 1andBox Sports Agency) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 12 points and 16 rebounds. The former international center Yasemin Koc (189-93, agency: 1andBox Sports Agency) contributed with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Five Cankaya players scored in double figures. American forward Arhonda Covington (185-85, college: Louisville) answered with a double-double by scoring 28 points and 18 rebounds and Gulay Gul (-93) added 6 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Edirne. Edirne's coach Derya Zeren gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Cankaya. They maintain fourth place with 28-8 record. Loser Edirne keeps the fifteenth position with 23 games lost. Cankaya will face Yalova Vip (#16) on the road in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Edirne will play against Mersin Uni and hope to win that game.
