Tenth-ranked Yesilgiresun Bld (9-17) used its home court advantage to challenge sixth ranked Galatasaray (16-10) in Giresun on Saturday. The visitors from Istanbul managed to secure only three-point victory 89-86. However their fans expected much easier game. Galatasaray made 21-of-27 free shots (77.8 percent) during the game. Strangely Yesilgiresun Bld outrebounded Galatasaray 40-26 including 16 on the offensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. American point guard Errick McCollum (185-88, college: Goshen) notched 22 points to lead the effort and American-Israeli center Alex Tyus (203-88, college: Florida) supported him with 9 points and 10 rebounds. Even a double-double of 25 points and 12 rebounds by American Ricky Ledo (201-92, college: Providence) did not help to save the game for Yesilgiresun Bld. American-Romanian point guard Malcolm Armstead (187-89, college: Wichita St., agency: Three Eye Sports) added 19 points and 7 assists for the hosts. Five Yesilgiresun Bld players scored in double figures. Galatasaray have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain sixth position with 16-10 record. Yesilgiresun Bld lost fifth consecutive game. They dropped to the eleventh place with 17 games lost. Galatasaray will meet at home Pinar Karsiyaka (#7) in the next round. Yesilgiresun Bld will play against Demir IBB (#12) in Buyukcekmece and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
