Second Stage Round 9: Sloboda Tuzla - Kakanj 79-61

Bottom-ranked Kakanj (0-9) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 79-61 loss to fourth ranked Sloboda Tuzla (5-4) in Tuzla. They dominated down low during the game scoring 42 of its points in the paint compared to Kakanj's 22. It was a good game for American guard Devonte Brown (188-92, college: Indiana St.) who led his team to a victory with 18 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists. Forward Enes Latifagic (200-92, agency: BeoExcell) contributed with 15 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Croatian swingman Zeljko Palavra (194-82) answered with 17 points and 5 rebounds (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line) and center Obrad Tomic (206-93) added 9 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Kakanj. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Sloboda Tuzla maintains fourth place in I with 5-4 record. Kakanj at the other side still closes the standings with nine games lost. Sloboda Tuzla will play against league's leader Igokea in Aleksandrovac in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Kakanj will play at home against Spars Sarajevo (#5) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
