Regular Season Round 33: Juventus - P.Zvaigzdes 91-97

There was a small surprise in Utena where seventh ranked P.Zvaigzdes (15-18) defeated 5th ranked Juventus (17-16) 97-91 on Monday. Juventus was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. P.Zvaigzdes made 18-of-21 free shots (85.7 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Osvaldas Olisevicius (200-93) stepped up and scored 15 points and 5 rebounds for the winners and naturalized Canadian point guard Evaldas Zabas (188-88) chipped in 16 points and 4 assists. P.Zvaigzdes' coach Ramunas Cvirka used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was American point guard Jamar Diggs (188-88, college: Wofford, agency: Octagon Europe) with 19 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists and guard Dovis Bickauskis (188-93) scored 15 points. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. P.Zvaigzdes maintains seventh place with 15-18 record. Loser Juventus keeps the fifth position with 16 games lost. They share it with Vytautas. P.Zvaigzdes will meet at home higher ranked Neptunas (#4) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Juventus will play against Dzukija and hope to secure a win.
