Regular Season Round 32: Jena - Vechta 91-90

Date: April 21, 2017
Seventeenth-ranked SC Rasta Vechta (2-28) gave a tough game to twelfth ranked Science City Jena (11-18). Science City Jena managed to secure only one-point victory 91-90. However their fans expected much easier game. The winners were led by American point guard Julius Jenkins (187-81, college: Georgia South) who scored that evening 20 points and the other American import center Kenny Frease (213-89, college: Xavier) supported him with 12 points and 9 rebounds. Science City Jena's coach Bjoern Harmsen allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Even 18 points and 7 assists by American-Albanian point guard Rashaun Broadus (183-84, college: BYU, agency: Octagon Europe) did not help to save the game for SC Rasta Vechta. American power forward Devin Searcy (208-89, college: Dayton) added 16 points and 11 rebounds for the guests. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Newly promoted Science City Jena maintains twelfth position with 11-18 record. SC Rasta Vechta lost sixth consecutive game. SC Rasta Vechta at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the seventeenth place with 28 games lost. Science City Jena will play against higher ranked EWE Baskets (#7) in Oldenburg in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. SC Rasta Vechta will play at home against BG Goettingen (#11) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
