Regular Season Round 35: Zalgiris - Lietuvos rytas 90-60

The game between Top Four teams took place in Kaunas. First ranked host Zalgiris (32-3) smashed second-ranked Lietuvos rytas (25-10) 90-60. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Lietuvos rytas. The game without a history. Zalgiris led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Lietuvos rytas' 28. Zalgiris forced 19 Lietuvos rytas turnovers. It was a great evening for international point guard Lukas Lekavicius (180-94) who led his team to a victory scoring 19 points and 4 assists. The former international Paulius Jankunas (205-84) helped adding 12 points. American forward Drew Gordon (205-90, college: N.Mexico) responded with 15 points and the other American import guard Jimmy Baron (191-86, college: Rhode Island) scored 8 points and 7 assists. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Zalgiris have an impressive series of ten victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with 32-3 record. Lietuvos rytas at the other side keeps the second position with ten games lost. Zalgiris are looking forward to face Juventus (#5) in Utena in the next round. Lietuvos rytas will play on the road against P.Zvaigzdes in Pasvalys and is hoping to prove to their supporters that the loss was just an accident.
