Very predictable result when second ranked Gmunden Swans (21-10) defeated at home bottom-ranked Dukes (4-27) 89-72. The game was mostly controlled by Gmunden Swans. Dukes was better in fourth quarter 23-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Gmunden Swans players were unselfish on offense dishing 27 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Dukes' players. American-British guard Michael Ojo (195-89, college: Lehigh) notched 17 points and 4 steals to lead the effort and Lithuanian center Povilas Gaidys (208-91, college: Southeastern, agency: SPORTlab Agency) supported him with 10 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Five Gmunden Swans players scored in double figures. Gmunden Swans' coach Bernd Wimmer used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even 27 points and 5 rebounds (made all of his seven free throws) by forward Jurica Blazevic (199-94, agency: Interperformances) did not help to save the game for Dukes. International center Jozo Rados (208-93) added 15 points and 9 rebounds for lost side. Gmunden Swans maintains second position with 21-10 record having five points less than leader Oberwart. Dukes lost nineteenth consecutive game. They stay dead last with 27 lost games. Gmunden Swans will play against UBSC Graz (#8) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Dukes will play against Kapfenberg Bulls and hope to get back on the winning track.
