Second Stage Round 13: Niko-Basket - Politekhn.Lvov 91-88

Important game to mention about took place in Mykolaiv. Eighth ranked Niko-Basket (5-18) saved a 3-point victory at home edging much higher ranked Politekhn.Lvov (15-9) 91-88 on Sunday evening. It was quite big embarassment for the guest team. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of Politekhn.Lvov. Politekhn.Lvov was ahead by 4 points after three quarters before a 29-22 charge of Niko-Basket, which allowed them to win the game. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. Niko-Basket brought some defensive toughness making 10 blocks. Politekhn.Lvov was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Forward Sergiy Vershinin (195-95) stepped up and scored 22 points for the winners and forward Vadim Zaplotinskiy (200-97) chipped in 9 points, 16 rebounds and 4 blocks. At the losing side point guard Andriy Kobets (192-93, agency: AproK Sports Group) responded with a double-double by scoring 20 points, 7 rebounds and 12 assists and forward Dmytro Khodov (203-87) scored 14 points and 5 rebounds. Niko-Basket moved-up to seventh place, which they share with BC-93 RSzVSM. Politekhn.Lvov at the other side keeps the second position with nine games lost. They share it with Khimik-2 and Krivbas-2. Niko-Basket will play against higher ranked Khimik-2 (#4) in Yuzhny in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Politekhn.Lvov will play at home against Zolotoi Vek and hopes to get back on the winning track.
