Second Stage Round 9: Ovarense - Sampaense 94-57

Date: April 23, 2017
No shocking result in a game when eighth ranked Ovarense (17-13) smashed at home 11th ranked Sampaense (5-26) 94-57. They outrebounded Sampaense 39-21 including a 24-12 advantage in defensive rebounds. Ovarense players were unselfish on offense dishing 25 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Sampaense's players. Austrian-American forward Bryce Douvier (201-91, college: Texas A&M-CC) nailed 8 points and 10 rebounds for the winning side and the former international Fernando Neves (194-80) accounted for 18 points (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). American guard Devin Martin (193, college: Md-E Shore) came up with 16 points and 5 rebounds and the other American import point guard Andrew Guillory (190-92, college: Arkansas Tech) added 13 points and 6 rebounds respectively for Sampaense in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Ovarense have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain eighth place in Places 7-12 with 17-13 record. Newly promoted Sampaense keeps the eleventh position with 26 games lost. Ovarense's next round opponent will be Electrico FC (#9) in Ponte de Sor. Sampaense will play at home against Lusitania and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
