Regular Season Round 35: Juventus - Nevezis 98-79

Not a big story in a game in Utena where 9th ranked Nevezis (7-28) was rolled over by fifth ranked Juventus (19-16) 98-79. The game was mostly controlled by Juventus. Nevezis was better in third quarter 22-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Juventus dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Nevezis' 44. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 32 assists comparing to just 15 passes made by Nevezis' players. It was an exceptional evening for power forward Vaidas Cepukaitis (207-89, agency: Interperformances) who led the winners and scored 17 points and 8 rebounds. American point guard Jamar Diggs (188-88, college: Wofford, agency: Octagon Europe) accounted for 16 points and 8 assists for the winning side. Juventus' coach Antanas Sireika allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. American point guard Daiquan Walker (188-94, college: Cent.Florida) came up with 9 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists and Ignas Vaitkus (196-93, agency: Octagon Europe) added 14 points and 5 rebounds respectively for Nevezis in the defeat. Five Juventus and four Nevezis players scored in double figures. Juventus maintains fifth place with 19-16 record. Nevezis at the other side keeps the ninth position with 28 games lost. Juventus will play against league's leader Zalgiris in Kaunas in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Nevezis will play at home against Lietkabelis (#3) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
