Regular Season Round 28: Istanbul BBSK - Tofas 79-80

Important game to mention about took place in Istanbul. Ninth ranked Tofas (13-15) saved a 1-point victory on the road edging 10th ranked Istanbul BBSK (11-17) 80-79 in the game for the ninth place. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Istanbul BBSK. Tofas forced 21 Istanbul BBSK turnovers. Worth to mention a great performance of Dominican-American swingman Sammy Mejia (198-83, college: De Paul) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 21 points and 16 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Serbian point guard Vasilije Micic (196-94, agency: BeoBasket) contributed with 25 points (made all of his eight free throws) for the winners. American guard Sean Armand (196-91, college: Iona) replied with 17 points and 4 assists and Swedish-Croatian power forward Damir Markota (209-85, agency: XL Basketball Agency) added 14 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Istanbul BBSK. Four Istanbul BBSK players scored in double figures. Istanbul BBSK's coach Ertugrul Erdogan tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Tofas have a solid three-game winning streak. Newly promoted Tofas maintains ninth position with 13-15 record. Istanbul BBSK at the other side keeps the tenth place with 17 games lost. Tofas will play against Yesilgiresun Bld (#11) in Giresun in the next round. Istanbul BBSK will play on the road against Banvit in Balikesir and hopes to get back on the winning track.
