Second Stage Round 14: Hoverla - Krivbas-2 85-62

The game between Top Four teams took place in Frankivsk. First ranked host Hoverla (20-6) smashed 4th ranked Krivbas-2 (15-11) 85-62. The game was mostly controlled by Hoverla. Krivbas-2 was better in fourth quarter 19-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Hoverla forced 21 Krivbas-2 turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 29 assists. Hoverla brought some defensive toughness making 7 blocks. The former international center Roman Gumeniuk (220-87) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 14 points, 10 rebounds and 4 blocks. Point guard Kyrylo Podkovyrov (180-96) contributed with 17 points and 6 assists for the winners. Anton Roskoshniy replied with 14 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and Andrii Bondarenko (199-95) added 9 points and 4 assists in the effort for Krivbas-2. Krivbas-2's coach Oleksandr Porokhenko gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Hoverla have an impressive eight-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 20-6 record. Krivbas-2 at the other side keeps the fourth place with 11 games lost. Hoverla's next round opponent will be Zolotoi Vek (#4) in Kirovograd. Krivbas-2 will play at home against Politekhn.Lvov and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
