Regular Season Round 30: Anadolu Efes - Fenerbahce 57-96
Date: May 10, 2017
Another interesting game was a derby match between two teams from Istanbul: Fenerbahce (#1) and Anadolu Efes (#3). Anadolu Efes was smashed at home by 39 points 57-96 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. Fenerbahce dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Anadolu Efes' 38. They outrebounded Anadolu Efes 37-24 including a 31-11 advantage in defensive rebounds. Fenerbahce players were unselfish on offense dishing 26 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Anadolu Efes' players. Nigerian power forward Ekpe Udoh (208-87, college: Baylor) notched 22 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists (on 10-of-11 shooting from the field) to lead the effort and Serbian swingman Bogdan Bogdanovic (198-92) supported him with 15 points and 8 assists. Four Fenerbahce players scored in double figures. Fenerbahce's coach Zeljko Obradovic felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even 12 points by American forward Derrick Brown (203-87, college: Xavier) did not help to save the game for Anadolu Efes. French guard Thomas Heurtel (189-89, agency: BeoBasket) added 14 points. Fenerbahce (28-2) have an impressive 21-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position. Anadolu Efes lost third consecutive game. They keep the third place with seven games lost. They share the position with Darussafaka.
