No shocking result in a game in Istanbul where sixth ranked Galatasaray (18-12) won against 12th ranked Demir IBB (9-21) 86-79 on Friday. Strangely Demir IBB outrebounded Galatasaray 41-24 including 28 on the defensive glass. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Galatasaray made 8 blocks. The best player for the winners was international Sinan Guler (192-83, college: Carroll, MT, agency: 1x1 Sports) who scored 19 points, 5 rebounds and 9 assists. American point guard Errick McCollum (185-88, college: Goshen) chipped in 14 points. At the other side the best for losing team was American-Kazakhstan point guard Jerry Johnson (182-82, college: Rider, agency: BeoBasket) who recorded 14 points and 5 assists and New Zealand forward Thomas Abercrombie (198-87, college: Washington St.) added 13 points and 6 rebounds respectively. Four Galatasaray and five Demir IBB players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Galatasaray maintains sixth position with 18-12 record.
