We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 8th ranked Pinar Karsiyaka (15-15) was defeated at home by ninth ranked Tofas (15-15) 88-82 on Saturday. Tofas forced 19 Pinar Karsiyaka turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. The best player for the winners was Dominican-American swingman Sammy Mejia (198-83, college: De Paul) who scored 23 points and 7 rebounds. The former international power forward Kaya Peker (207-80, agency: Court Side) chipped in 21 points and 9 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was Muhammed Baygul (191-92) who recorded 16 points, 8 rebounds, 9 assists and 4 steals and Polish swingman Mateusz Ponitka (196-93) added 20 points and 7 rebounds respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Tofas have an impressive five-game winning streak. They moved-up to eighth place, which they share with defeated Pinar Karsiyaka.
