Regular Season Round 1: Salzkotten - Grevenbroich 89-97

Date: September 16, 2017
The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Salzkotten (0-1) at the home court on Saturday night. Hosts were defeated by Grevenbroich (1-0) 97-89. They made 32-of-40 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game, while Salzkotten only scored thirteen points from the stripe. 31 personal fouls committed by Salzkotten helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Gerrell Martin (190-93, college: LIU Brooklyn) who helped to win the game recording 25 points and 6 rebounds. Croatian-Bosnian forward Marko Boksic (201-93, agency: PEPI SPORT) contributed with 22 points for the winners. Five Grevenbroich players scored in double figures. Swingman Felix Wenningkamp (195-88) answered with 33 points (!!!) and 4 assists and forward Rolf Gees (197-85) added 18 points and 14 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) in the effort for Salzkotten. Salzkotten's coach Stefan Schettke rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Grevenbroich is looking forward to face Hagen-Haspe (#3) on the road in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Salzkotten will play against Hagen BG (#2) and is hoping to prove to their supporters that the loss was just an accident.
