But Itzehoe was not able to use a home court advantage and was defeated by the opponent from Schalke 88-77 on Saturday night. It was a very good performance for naturalized American forward Shawn Gulley (201-93, college: Temple JC) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 22 points and 10 rebounds. American power forward R.J. Slawson (203-92, college: Jacksonville) contributed with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds (made all of his seven free throws) for the winners. Australian center Nelson Kahler (206, college: Colorado St.-Pueblo) answered with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 12 rebounds and British-Australian point guard Joshua Wilcher (178-91, college: Cent.Wyoming) added 14 points and 4 assists in the effort for Itzehoe. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Itzehoe's coach Patrick Elzie let to play ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Schalke will face AstroStars (#8) in Bochum in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Itzehoe will play on the road against Herzoege Wolfenbuettel and hope to win that game.
