Regular Season Round 2: Opladen - Neuss 77-83

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of SG BBZ Opladen (1-1) in Leverkusen. Hosts were defeated by TG Neuss (2-0) 83-77. SG BBZ Opladen was ahead by 5 points at the halftime before a 31-19 third quarter run of TG Neuss. They also forced 24 SG BBZ Opladen turnovers. American center Julia Duggan (185, college: Rider) had a double-double by scoring 20 points and 12 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import guard Briana Williams (170-92, college: Mercer, agency: PEPI SPORT) chipped in 17 points during the contest. Five TG Neuss players scored in double figures. Forward Leonie Schuetter (177-98) responded with 29 points and 8 rebounds (was perfect 10-for-10 from the free throw line !!!) and Canadian guard Jill Stratton (180-91) scored 14 points and 8 rebounds. SG BBZ Opladen's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. TG Neuss will play against Baskets Grunberg (#5) in Gruenberg in the next round. SG BBZ Opladen will play on the road against Wolfpack Wolfenbuettel to get more than just one victory in their record.
