Homburger TG used a home court advantage and outplayed the opponent from Dudenhofen 85-54 on Tuesday night. The game without a history. Homburger TG led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Speyer / Schifferstadt's 28. They outrebounded Speyer / Schifferstadt 42-26 including 17 on the offensive glass. Naturalized Bulgarian guard Gergana Georgieva (181-87) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 13 rebounds. American forward Stephanie Furr (179, college: Wisc.-Parkside) contributed with 16 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Four Homburger TG players scored in double figures. Canadian forward Kathryn Verboom (179-86) replied with 16 points and American guard Jennifer Mocanu (172-90) added 13 points and 4 steals in the effort for Speyer / Schifferstadt. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Homburger TG will face Keltern II (#5) at home in the next round. Speyer / Schifferstadt will play against Ladybaskets Wuerzburg (#4) and hope to win that game.
