Regular Season Round 3: Marburg - Chemnitz 72-52

There was a minor upset when ChemCats Chemnitz (0-2) was crushed on the road by BC Pharmaserv Marburg (1-2) 72-52. The game was mostly controlled by BC Pharmaserv Marburg. ChemCats Chemnitz was better in second period 17-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. BC Pharmaserv Marburg dominated on the defensive end, holding ChemCats Chemnitz to just 4 points in fourth quarter. They outrebounded ChemCats Chemnitz 35-23 including 26 on the defensive glass. It was an exceptional evening for Bulgarian power forward Diana Voynova (192-88, college: Duquesne) who led the winners and scored 16 points and 8 rebounds. American guard Tonisha Baker (173-90, college: Campbell) accounted for 13 points and 5 assists for the winning side. Four BC Pharmaserv Marburg players scored in double figures. BC Pharmaserv Marburg's coach Patrick Unger allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Swedish forward Abigail Asoro (183-93, college: Iowa Western CC) came up with 12 points and 7 rebounds and French guard Margot Vidal-Geneve (165-95) added 10 points and 5 assists respectively for ChemCats Chemnitz in the defeat. BC Pharmaserv Marburg's next round opponent will be TV Saarlouis Royals (#9) on the road. ChemCats Chemnitz will play against Gruner Stern Keltern and looks forward to get finally their first victory.
