Regular Season Round 1: ICIM Arad - Olimpia Brasov 80-94

An interesting game where Olimpia Brasov (#5) beat host ICIM Arad (#4) 94-80 on Wednesday evening. The game was mostly controlled by Olimpia Brasov. ICIM Arad managed to win third quarter 22-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a great shooting night for Olimpia Brasov especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 66.7 percentage. American forward Portia Durrett (185-92, college: Oklahoma) stepped up and scored 25 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and Serbian Biljana Pesovic (180-83) chipped in 17 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Olimpia Brasov's coach Daniel Calancea used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side American swingman Brandi Wingate (188-91, college: Louisiana Tech) responded with 20 points and 6 rebounds and Bosnian guard Matea Tavic (178-92) scored 15 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Five Olimpia Brasov and four ICIM Arad players scored in double figures. Olimpia Brasov will meet at home Phoenix Galati (#11) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. ICIM Arad will play against Sf.Gheorghe in Sfantu Gheorghe and hope to win that game.
