The biggest surprise of round 1 in Liga Nationala took place in Alexandria where host Alexandria (1-0) crushed Alba Iulia (0-1) 88-48 on Wednesday evening. The game without a history. Alexandria led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Alexandria forced 19 Alba Iulia turnovers. Nigerian guard Promise Amukamara (173-93, college: Arizona St.) fired 30 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. American power forward Carla Bartee (182-85, college: Mississippi) chipped in 9 points and 9 rebounds. Serbian center Ana Radovic (191-90, agency: ProDep Management) produced 12 points and 7 rebounds and American guard Jessica January (170-95, college: De Paul) added 14 points and 6 rebounds respectively for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Alba Iulia will play next round against strong Satu Mare trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Alexandria will try to continue on its current victory against Sirius TgM in Targu Mures.
