Academik Plovdiv used a home court advantage and beat the opponent from Yambol 78-72. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts were already 11 points ahead after 3 quarters before a 22-17 Yambol's run in the last quarter cut the lead to 78-72 at the end of the game. Worth to mention a great performance of American point guard Isiah Umipig (183-92, college: Seattle) who helped to win the game recording 22 points and 5 assists. The former international Martin Durchev (202-87) contributed with 14 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. The former international center Nikolay Varbanov (209-85, agency: Interperformances) answered with a double-double by scoring 14 points, 11 rebounds and 7 assists and guard Stanislav Govedarov (185-80) added 10 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Yambol. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Yambol's coach Ivan Cholakov rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Academik Plovdiv will play against Levski 2014 (#3) in Sofia in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Yambol will play at home against Spartak Pleven (#8) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
