Regular Season Round 1: Lusitania - Ovarense 79-75

Lusitania used a home court advantage and defeated the opponent from Ovar 79-75 on Saturday night. However just four-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Ovarense was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. American guard Four McGlynn (188-92, college: Rhode Island) stepped up and scored 30 points for the winners and Serbian forward Dusan Hukic (210-93) chipped in 9 points and 10 rebounds. At the losing side American forward Marquis Vance (201-94, college: Alcorn St.) responded with 16 points and 9 rebounds and the other American import point guard Will Perry (180-94, college: Lenoir-Rhyne) scored 18 points and 5 rebounds. Four Ovarense players scored in double figures. Ovarense's coach Nuno Manarte tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Lusitania will face Electrico FC (#9) in Ponte de Sor in the next round. Ovarense will play on the road against Terceira in Angra Heroismo and hope to win that game.
