Regular Season Round 4: Bergedorf - Rendsburg 85-81

Very predictable result in Hamburg where top-ranked Bergedorf (3-0) defeated bottom-ranked Rendsburg (0-3) 85-81 on Saturday. However just four-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts trailed by 4 points after three quarters before their 19-11 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Bergedorf outrebounded Rendsburg 36-24 including 26 on the defensive glass. Rendsburg was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Will Barnes (185-88, college: Lee) who helped to win the game recording 38 points (!!!) and 6 rebounds and center Markus Timm (204-88) who added 13 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side American guard Garrett Jefferson (190-91, college: Cal.Baptist) responded with 27 points and 7 rebounds and center Christopher Geist (208-95) scored 20 points. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Bergedorf have a solid three-game winning streak. They keep a position of North leader, which they share with 3 other teams. Loser Rendsburg still closes the standings with three games lost. Bergedorf will face league's leader Aschersleben on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Rendsburg will play against Ebstorf (#11) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
