Regular Season Round 1: Spartak Pleven - Beroe 83-104

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Spartak Pleven (0-1) at the home court on Saturday night. Hosts were rolled over by Beroe (1-0) 104-83. The game was mostly controlled by Beroe. Spartak Pleven managed to win fourth quarter 33-25. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Beroe shot 63.9 percent from the field. It was a great shooting night for Beroe especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.4 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. American forward Alex Davis (206-92, college: Fresno St.) fired 25 points (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) for the winners. International forward Aleksandar Yanev Georgiev (203-90, agency: 011 Sports) chipped in 17 points. Five Beroe players scored in double figures. Beroe's coach Ljubomir Minchev felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American forward Cedrick Bowen (198-92, college: Charleston So.) produced 23 points and 5 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) and point guard Nikolay Marinov (174-94) added 17 points and 7 assists respectively for lost side. Beroe will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Spartak Pleven will play on the road against Yambol (#9) and is hoping to prove to their supporters that the loss was just an accident.
