Galatasaray used a home court advantage and beat the opponent from Mersin 82-73 on Saturday night. Mersin BSB trailed by 11 points after 3 quarters before a 20-18 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 73-82 at the end of the game. Galatasaray made 18-of-19 free shots (94.7 percent) during the game. Hungarian-American guard Allie Quigley (178-86, college: De Paul) fired 24 points and 6 assists for the winners. Lithuanian power forward Gintare Petronyte (196-89) chipped in 22 points and 7 rebounds (made all of her ten free throws !!!). American center Krystal Thomas (195-89, college: Duke) produced a double-double by scoring 11 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists and the other American import guard Bria Hartley (173-92, college: Connecticut) added 20 points respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players saving starting five for next games. Galatasaray will face Bornova (#10) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Mersin BSB will play against Fenerbahce and hope to win that game.
