Regular Season Round 1: Tofas - Darussafaka 97-81

Tofas used a home court advantage and defeated the opponent from Istanbul 97-81 on Sunday night. The game was mostly controlled by Tofas. Darussafaka was better in third quarter 28-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Darussafaka 35-19 including 22 on the defensive glass. It was a great shooting night for Tofas especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.4 percentage. Dominican-American swingman Sammy Mejia (198-83, college: De Paul) fired 27 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. American power forward Raymar Morgan (203-88, college: Michigan St.) chipped in 19 points and 8 rebounds. Cuban forward Howard Sant-Roos (200-91) produced 12 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and American power forward JaJuan Johnson (208-89, college: Purdue) added 16 points respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Darussafaka's coach rotated eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Tofas will face Usak Sportlif (#16) on the road in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Darussafaka's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Istanbul Galatasaray.
