Date: October 8, 2017
There was a minor upset when higher ranked Mainz (1-2) was crushed at home by fifteenth ranked Stuttgart (1-2) 99-56 on Sunday. The game without a history. Stuttgart led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Mainz to just 7 points in third quarter. Stuttgart forced 19 Mainz turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of Montenegrin Milos Mandic (195-97) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 22 points and 11 rebounds and American forward Nick Mosley (203-88, college: Tarleton St.) who added 18 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals during the contest. Four Stuttgart players scored in double figures. At the losing side naturalized American point guard Anish Sharda (188-82, college: St.Mary's, KS) responded with 16 points, 9 rebounds and 9 assists and Latvian forward Janis Dumburs (198-96) scored 13 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Stuttgart left bottom position moving up to tenth place in South-West, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Mainz. Stuttgart will face Limburg (#12) at home in the next round.
