Regular Season Round 1: Galatasaray - Gaziantep 82-58

An exciting game was played in Istanbul. Galatasaray faced Gaziantep. Host Galatasaray (1-0) smashed guests from Gaziantep (0-1) 82-58. The game was mostly controlled by Galatasaray. Gaziantep managed to win third quarter 22-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Gaziantep to just 5 points in first quarter and to 14 points in first half. Galatasaray dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Gaziantep's 22. American swingman Scotty Hopson (200-89, college: Tennessee) stepped up and scored 20 points and 5 rebounds for the winners and American-Bosnian point guard Alex Renfroe (191-86, college: Belmont, agency: BeoBasket) chipped in 7 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists. Galatasaray's coach Erman Kunter felt very confident that he used 10 players and allowed the starting five to rest. At the losing side American forward Victor Rudd (205-91, college: S.Florida, agency: GFSG) responded with 11 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and the other American import power forward D.J. White (206-86, college: Indiana) scored 13 points and 5 rebounds. Galatasaray's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Istanbul to the arena Darussafaka.
