Another exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Bucuresti: Steaua CSM (#7) and CS Dinamo Bucuresti (#5). Steaua CSM (1-0) crushed visiting CS Dinamo Bucuresti (0-1) by 32 points 97-65. The game without a history. Steaua CSM led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to CS Dinamo Bucuresti's 30. Steaua CSM forced 23 CS Dinamo Bucuresti turnovers and outrebounded them 32-18 including 19 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. American power forward Jason Boone (203-85, college: New York U., agency: 3Eye) stepped up and scored 17 points and 9 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) for the winners and Slovenian guard Luka Lapornik (195-88, agency: PEPI SPORT) chipped in 17 points and 5 steals. Four Steaua CSM players scored in double figures. At the losing side naturalized Italian forward Alin Giani Zaharie (198-94) responded with 16 points and 4 assists and guard Andrei Iliescu (186-97) scored 12 points and 5 assists. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Steaua CSM will meet CSU Sibiu on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. CS Dinamo Bucuresti will play against Oradea (#9) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
