Regular Season Round 3: Recklinghausen - Osnabruecker TB 44-79

Date: October 8, 2017
But Recklinghausen was not able to use a home court advantage and was crushed by the opponent from Osnabrueck 79-44 on Sunday night. The game was mostly controlled by Osnabruecker. Recklinghausen was better in third quarter 14-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Recklinghausen to just 5 points in second quarter. Osnabruecker held Recklinghausen to an opponent 24.6 percent shooting from the field compared to 40.5 percent accuracy of the winners. Osnabruecker forced 25 Recklinghausen turnovers and outrebounded them 47-36 including 17 on the offensive glass. It was a good game for American guard NDea Bryant (183-94, college: N.Carolina) who led her team to a victory with 38 points (!!!), 8 rebounds, 4 assists and 6 steals. Forward Michelle Mueller (180-92) contributed with 10 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Center Leonie Bleker (189-90) answered with 5 points and 11 rebounds and forward Annika Kueper (183-97) added 12 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Recklinghausen. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Osnabruecker will face TG Neuss (#3) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Recklinghausen will play against Braunschweig (#9) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
