Regular Season Round 2: Alges - Ovarense 66-57

Alges used a home court advantage and defeated the opponent from Ovar 66-57 on Sunday night. Ovarense trailed by 12 points after 3 quarters before a 15-12 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 57-66 at the end of the game. Alges dominated on the defensive end, holding Ovarense to just 6 points in second quarter. They outrebounded Ovarense 42-30 including a 33-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. Angolan forward Artemis Afonso (175-93) had a double-double by scoring 12 points and 11 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and guard Marcia Carvalho (170-92) chipped in 17 points during the contest. Four Alges players scored in double figures. Alges' coach used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Point guard Gabriela Raimundo (167-93) responded with 17 points and 7 rebounds and point guard Ana Raimundo (167-93) scored 11 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists. Alges will meet Lombos Quinta (#7) in the next round. Ovarense will play against AD Vagos and hope to win that game.
