Regular Season Round 3: Osnabrueck SC - Braunschweig 74-71

Osnabrueck SC edged Braunschweig at home 74-71. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 25-17. But Braunschweig won second period 19-14. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Osnabrueck SC had a 32-21 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a good game for Swedish forward Mikaela Gustafsson (186-93, college: Maine) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 13 rebounds. Point guard Ramona Tews (172-92) contributed with 15 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Osnabrueck SC's coach Mario Zurkowski used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. American point guard Ariel Hearn (171-94, college: Memphis) answered with 38 points (!!!) and 7 rebounds and the other American import forward Brianna Wright (182-94, college: Memphis) added 9 points and 16 rebounds in the effort for Braunschweig. Braunschweig will play next round against Recklinghausen trying to get back on the winning streak. Osnabrueck SC will try to continue on its current victory against Rotenburg/Scheessel on the road.
