Regular Season Round 3: Dynamo-NPU - Tavriyska Zirka 64-53

There was no surprise in Kyiv where Tavriyska Zirka (0-5) was defeated by Dynamo-NPU (2-3) 64-53 on Thursday. The game was mostly controlled by Dynamo-NPU. Tavriyska Zirka was better in fourth quarter 20-7. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Tavriyska Zirka to just 6 points in third quarter. They outrebounded Tavriyska Zirka 56-41 including 20 on the offensive glass. The best player for the winners was Olena Boiko (185-97) who scored 15 points and 8 rebounds. Center Oksana Piantak (205-96, agency: LBM Management) chipped in a double-double by scoring 10 points and 11 rebounds. Dynamo-NPU's coach Vladimir Ryzhov used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. At the other side the best for losing team was point guard Olga Nazarenko (168-88) who recorded 14 points and 8 rebounds and swingman Mariya Tkach (180-92) added 11 points and 8 rebounds respectively. Dynamo-NPU will face Rivne (#3) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Tavriyska Zirka will play against Interkhim (#2) in Odessa and looks forward to get finally their first victory.
