Regular Season Round 3: Kyiv Basket - Tavriyska Zirka 102-69

Kyiv Basket delivered the fifth consecutive victory. This time they crushed Tavriyska Zirka (0-5) 102-69. The game was mostly controlled by Kyiv Basket. Tavriyska Zirka was better in fourth quarter 24-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Kyiv Basket made 20-of-26 charity shots (76.9 percent) during the game. They also forced 21 Tavriyska Zirka turnovers and outrebounded them 37-23 including 22 on the defensive glass. Kyiv Basket shot the lights out from three nailing 14 long-distance shots on high 53.8 percentage. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 33 assists. It was a quality performance for guard Xeniya Afanasyeva (171-93) who led the winners and scored 17 points and 9 assists. The former international swingman Anna Olkhovyk (188-87) accounted for 19 points and 4 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winning side. Four Kyiv Basket players scored in double figures. Kyiv Basket's coach Volodimir Kholopov felt very confident using 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Power forward Marharyta Hliebova (187-96) came up with 29 points and 7 rebounds and swingman Mariya Tkach (180-92) added 13 points, 5 assists and 4 steals respectively for Tavriyska Zirka in the defeat. Kyiv Basket will have a break next round. Tavriyska Zirka will play on the road against Interkhim (#2) in Odessa and hopes to get finally their first victory.
