Regular Season Round 4: BG 89 Avides - Osnabrueck SC 58-65

Date: October 14, 2017
The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of Rotenburg/Scheessel (1-1) at the home court on Saturday night. Hosts were defeated by Osnabrueck SC (4-0) 65-58. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Rotenburg/Scheessel. Rotenburg/Scheessel was trailing by 1 point at halftime but managed to get 4-point lead after three quarters before a 20-9 charge of Osnabrueck SC, which allowed them to win the game. Worth to mention a great performance of Swedish forward Mikaela Gustafsson (186-93, college: Maine) who helped to win the game recording 16 points and 7 rebounds and guard Jenny Strozyk (165-0) who added 14 points during the contest. Osnabrueck SC's coach Mario Zurkowski used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side the former international guard Pia Mankertz (170-90) responded with 14 points and 7 rebounds and forward Hannah Pakulat (181-94) scored 9 points and 12 rebounds. Four Rotenburg/Scheessel players scored in double figures. Osnabrueck SC maintains first position in North with 4-0 record. Rotenburg/Scheessel at the other side dropped to the eighth place with one game lost. They share the position with Braunschweig and B.Loewen. Osnabrueck SC will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Rotenburg/Scheessel will play on the road against Recklinghausen (#11) and is hoping to prove to their fans that the loss was just an accident.
