Regular Season Round 5: Schwabing - Zwickau 104-72

There was a surprise result when fourteenth ranked Schwabing (1-3) outscored at home higher ranked GGZ Baskets (1-3) 104-72 on Saturday. Schwabing dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to GGZ Baskets' 34. Schwabing forced 20 GGZ Baskets turnovers and outrebounded them 44-24 including a 24-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. GGZ Baskets were plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. American forward Nathan Gibbs (204-89, college: Westmont) stepped up and scored 29 points for the winners and power forward Fynn Fischer (208-99) chipped in 16 points and 13 rebounds. Five Schwabing players scored in double figures. Schwabing's coach felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Point guard Felix Fraas (184-94) responded with 20 points and 5 rebounds and Croatian swingman Sandro Kordis (195-92) scored 12 points. Schwabing left bottom position moving up to eighth place in South-East, which they share with 5 other teams including defeated GGZ Baskets. It was GGZ Baskets' third loss in a row. Schwabing will face higher ranked Gotha II (#6) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
