Regular Season Round 5: Rendsburg - Ebstorf 95-59

Rendsburg has registered their first victory this season after three consecutive losses. They used home court advantage to defeat Ebstorf (0-4) 95-59 on Saturday. Rendsburg dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Ebstorf's 40 and had 27 for 42 from the free-throw line, while Ebstorf only scored seven points from the stripe. Rendsburg forced 21 Ebstorf turnovers and outrebounded them 47-25 including a 22-7 advantage in offensive rebounds. Ebstorf was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. American guard Garrett Jefferson (190-91, college: Cal.Baptist) stepped up and scored 22 points and 6 rebounds for the winners and British power forward Deji Adekunle (209-92, college: Kaiser) chipped in 15 points and 11 rebounds. Guard Hussein Salim (180) responded with 12 points and 5 assists and power forward Andreas Willing (196-81) scored 10 points and 6 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Rendsburg (1-3) left bottom position moving up to ninth place in North, which they share with Weser Bsk/BTS. It was Ebstorf's fourth loss in a row. Newly promoted team still closes the standings with four games lost. Rendsburg will face higher ranked Westerstede (#7) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Ebstorf will play against the league's leader Aschersleben (#1) and will have a slim chance for a victory.
