Regular Season Round 5: Saarlouis/Dillingen - Mainz 94-84

No shocking result in a game when leader Saarlouis/Dillingen (4-0) won against at home 13th ranked Mainz (1-3) 94-84 on Saturday. Saarlouis/Dillingen dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Mainz's 28. They outrebounded Mainz 34-21 including 20 on the defensive glass. American guard Ricky Easterling (189-83, college: Bridgewater) stepped up and scored 31 points and 5 assists (on 13-of-17 shooting from the field) for the winners and Swedish forward Alan Bedirhanoglu (190-96) chipped in 16 points and 8 rebounds. Five Saarlouis/Dillingen players scored in double figures. Naturalized American point guard Anish Sharda (188-82, college: St.Mary's, KS) responded with 34 points (!!!) and 5 rebounds (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) and swingman Philipp Schoen (196-87) scored 12 points. Saarlouis/Dillingen have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain first place in South-West with 4-0 record. Loser Mainz dropped to the twelfth position with three games lost. Saarlouis/Dillingen will face Limburg (#13) on the road in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Mainz will play against Kaiserslautern and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
