Regular Season Round 5: Weser Bsk/BTS - Westerstede 75-82

There was a minor upset in Neustadt where 8th ranked Weser Bsk/BTS (1-3) was defeated by tenth ranked Westerstede (1-2) 82-75 on Saturday. Point guard Franjo Borchers (190-93) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 30 points and 10 rebounds for the winners and Marcello Schroeder (195-87) chipped in 23 points and 9 rebounds. Naturalized Congolese forward Blanchard Obiango (202-88) responded with 20 points and 7 rebounds and naturalized American point guard Matthew Reid (185-84, college: Cameron) scored 13 points and 5 assists. Four Weser Bsk/BTS players scored in double figures. Weser Bsk/BTS's coach Nathan Barg gave the chance to play for ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Westerstede left bottom position moving up to seventh place in North, which they share with Wusterhausen. Loser Weser Bsk/BTS dropped to the ninth position with three games lost. Westerstede will face Rendsburg (#9) at home in the next round. Weser Bsk/BTS will play against ALBA-2 in Berlin and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
