There was no surprise when 6th ranked Recklinghausen (3-3) was defeated at home by leader Grevenbroich (6-0) 71-63 on Saturday. Grevenbroich shot 24 for 37 from the free-throw line, while Recklinghausen only scored six points from the stripe. Recklinghausen was plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. American guard Gerrell Martin (190-93, college: LIU Brooklyn) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds for the winners and American-British center Malcolm Delpeche (203-95, college: Bates) chipped in 14 points and 12 rebounds. Delpeche is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Grevenbroich players scored in double figures. American point guard Dalante Dunklin (185-94, college: San Diego Chr.) responded with a double-double by scoring 14 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) and Philipp Spettmann (200-91) scored 8 points and 12 rebounds. Grevenbroich have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They maintain first place in West with 6-0 record, which they share with Muenster and Hertener Loewen. Newly promoted Recklinghausen keeps the sixth position with three games lost. Grevenbroich will face Ibbenbueren (#10) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game.
