Regular Season Round 4: Lietuvos rytas - Neptunas 92-79

The most important game in the last round took place in Vilnius between second ranked Neptunas (5-2) and fourth ranked Lietuvos rytas (5-2) on Saturday night. Neptunas was defeated by Lietuvos rytas on the road 79-92. Lietuvos rytas made 16-of-19 free shots (84.2 percent) during the game. Lietuvos rytas outrebounded Neptunas 41-20 including a 30-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American power forward Travis Peterson (208-85, college: Samford) who helped to win the game recording 21 points and 7 assists. Greek center Loukas Mavrokefalidis (207-84) contributed with 18 points and 4 assists for the winners. Lietuvos rytas' coach Rimas Kurtinaitis used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The former international guard Mindaugas Girdziunas (188-89) replied with 16 points and Colombian-Spanish power forward Juan Palacios (206-85) added 11 points and 4 assists in the effort for Neptunas. Five Neptunas players scored in double figures. Lietuvos rytas moved-up to third place, which they share with defeated Neptunas. Lietuvos rytas is looking forward to face Siauliai (#7) on the road in the next round. Neptunas will play against Dzukija (#6) and is hoping to win this game.
